Burning smell when warming up?
 

Hi,

I have a 2000 SV650S and on warm up I get like a burning plasticy rubber smell, I think it's from the exhaust, once warm it seems to go.

Any ideas.

Probably just burnt on crap on the exhaust?

little gixer smells of burning WD40 when she's warming up, smokes nicely too from beneath the fairings.

I have the same problem. I've been trying to pinpoint the source and it appears to be coming from around the reg/rec (kinda worried).. Anyway, with mine the smell also comes along when running inertially for a while at high rpms (for instance when going downhill and keeping the throtle shut and my rpm's in the high 6 - 7).. I've actually looked a couple of times because I'm really worried it might catch on fire

Mine does too ........ I put it down to crap on the exhaust ....... and when it gets warmer - crap on the radiator ......

Nothing to worry about IMO !!

nothing to worry about really

probably just some lube or something on the exhaust or engine. I spray my bike exhaust with 365 and it burns too.

When you see flames then thats a problem lol :p

don't bother warming it up just get on it and ride it
