You want wigwams? We got wigwams. Linky

They've also got showers, kitchen, pub nearby, playpark for Sally etc. They've even got tipis, which is what I thought a wigwam was before GM1 (you did too admit it).

Thornhill is 5 or 6 miles south of Callander, easily accessible off the M9 (no Kingston Bridge again see?) and a handy spot for the Duke's Pass.

A run might look like this - nother linky - giving the Crieff/Aberfeldy east section and the Glencoe/Arrochar west section with obvious optional loops at Kinlochleven, Wibbly Wobbly and Duke's Pass. Call it 260 miles, 6:20 on the road plus 3 options

If that's too much, and I think it is - ditto Bibio and Dyzio's routes, sorry lads - then cut straight back to Tyndrum on the A85 - yet another linky. Call it 235 miles, 5:40 on the road plus 2 options.

Are there any questions? ;)

peterco and i were out and about again today so decided to visit Mains Farm Wigwams (above linky). the farm is a working farm which is right on the main road on a bend and feels a bit 'closed in' but otherwise a good site which is close to 2 pubs and B&B's. the nearest pub is just a short walk of about 1/4 mile or so then the next one is about 200 yds further up the road.

green arrow marks the spot.

we also visited another place but i will let peterco tell you about that as he took some photos of the place.

Re: GM3 Accomodation thread

OK the news you have been waiting for

I've been to see June today and we have space at Beinglas. Yup site of the original GM!
Beinglas Farm Campsite
Inveranan
Loch Lomond
G83 7DX

map to follow

The tarriff - £7.00 per adult per night camping

Wigwams - £12.50pppn ( bedding £3.50pppn)

The chalets - standard rooms with B&B £35pppn or superior rooms with B&B £39.50 pppn

There are 5 chalet rooms available for the friday/sat night and no wigwams let as I could see

Each wigwam sleeps 4 ( or so the leaflet says) I'm sure thos who have been there before will keep me right

Facilities
Bar and Restaurant on site with menu served from noon -evening
June has advised that saturdays nights at the drovers are packed and more are coming to Beinglas instead
so saturday night she will look into arranging Karaoke for us and the rest of the clientele.
The toilet block was getting a lick of paint when we were there today
Hot showers with hot water guaranteed
Campsite shop
Campsite shelter - NB Pete and lissa -has been upgraded so not much room for the bike this year. still has the cooker seats and laundry facilities and looks as big as ever - didn't see the pool table though.
the fire pit and beer garden are still there as are the sheep ( but no midges today)

Camping does not need to be booked but the rooms and wigwams do so contact June directly - 01301 704281 or beinglas.campsite@virgin.net
or www.beinglascampsite.co.uk

For those who don't want to be with us - you can try the Drovers Inn www.thedroversinn.co.uk

or here for alternatives close by (hough don't go by prices seem to be out of date slightly)

Now let the battling, bickering and whinging begin!

Only part of it so far but major roadworks start today for 26 weeks - but there's always roadworks on that road. And it doesn't seem to have degraded too much yet!
