Carb positioning question

Hi all,

Is it possible to put the carbs on wrong way round?

At the moment the TPS on my carbs is on the right hand side of the bike as you sit on it but that also means the fuel line and idle screw is also on the right hand side and looking at the tank it should be on the left.

Have I got it all back to front?

Cheers

HHH

Re: Carb positioning question

The issue I have is the fuel line from the carbs goes out to the right but my fuel tap on the tank is on the far left.

The fuel tap/pump arrowed at the top is on my tank not in the engine bay but the tanks I received didnt have a tap when I bought my SV in bits so I bought one from ebay and fitted it there where the haynes manual suggested.

Also the pipe arrowed below where does that go?

Re: Carb positioning question

That unit you have arrowed is the fuel pump. The pipe from the carbs go to a lower pipe on that unit and then the top pipe runs over the top of the engine to the vacuum fuel feed from the tank.

In this pic you can just see the fuel pump on the right and the vacuum unit on the far side

Re: Carb positioning question

Should be ok if you keep it topped up, its only need when the fuel in the tank drops below the level of the fuel bowls
