SORN and insurance
I've decided to put the bike away for the winter (the first time in 5 years of riding) as I have been cycling to work and am currently enjoying it and enjoying getting a bit fitter. I have declared the bike off road but am wondering what to do about the insurance, is there such a thing as off the road insurance? I don't want to cancel the insurance just in case the bike gets stolen but wondered if I can get any cheaper quotes if I don't intend to ride?
I am going to flog the bike in the spring and treat myself to a brand new bike in september :-) thanks all ste |
Re: SORN and insurance

Re: SORN and insurance
Yes you can get insurance to cover a laid up bike. But bear in mind it isn't a "motor" policy, ie that there is *no* cover whatsover for third party risks, so if you do nip out to the shops, and crash, or that theres anyt other incident arising which gives rise to a claim under the terms of the Road Traffic Act, say it's stolen and the thief does damage to third parties, and is identified, theres nothing whatsoever for a third party to claim against. Although thats where the MIB would step in, so its not really your problem.....

Re: SORN and insurance
tbh its best leaving it on tpf&t just in case you want to go for a quick ride.
