Exactly as it says above, found in Shorne Woods Country Park on Saturday, didn't get a decent shot of the top of it, but here is the best picture I have of it.

It was alive but not moving much?

I'm no expert but it looks like some type of gekko to me.

In kent? My youngest was really pleased to find a chameleon (sp?) I tried to explain that they changed colour to help camouflage themselves, to which he replied "well it has we found it in the mud!"

Apparently they dont change colour for camo effect, they do it out of stress etc. So says QI anyway.

Looks like a fire-bellied Newt to me but will check

edit: here's a pic of one, looks pretty similar?

Didn't think these creatures were native, I think they're more exotic pets so possible they've got out loose and are breeding...

Could be a crested newt.

Crested didn't come to mind, the shape of the head looks wrong. Apparently these firebellies are a lot smaller that crested so if the one krhall is on about was smaller than 3 inches then it's probably a firebelly. I ain't no expert though :-D

I was suprised to see it to be honest, it looked to have more of a yellow underside not too sure it is clear or not on the picture. Iphone takes crap pictures!

Thats a newt there my friend. Likes wet areas like Kent, not like a lizard!

Here's another firebelly.

More likely to be crested I suppose with the location, how long was it roughly? the only way to really tell between firebelly and crested is size and I'm intrigued now cos we wouldn't want another story of foreign animal intruders
