Service?
Hi,
Would you service a bike yourself after purchasing from a dealer if they said they gave it a basic service i.e. oil and oil filter change? would you change air filter and plugs etc ona 14k bike? the oil is black already. :smt032 |
Re: Service?
I would only change spark plugs etc if there was a problem. I would probably do an Oil and Filter change just for peace of mind if I was doubtful about what the garage had said or that the Oil was really really black. When I did my oil change the oil went black after a few hundred miles.
I would inspect the air filter, to see if it needed replacement... What I guess im trying to say is if you don't feel right about something its not that hard to check it out yourself. Oil change is simple as is air filter and spark plugs...go on get your hands dirty :) |
Re: Service?
check if the clearances have been done as they should be done at 15k on the SV, that + oil are the main ones to check.

Re: Service?
dont trust anything most dealers say, so yep i would go over any bike with a fine tooth comb...oil/filter is a must..then check plugs /air filter, grease in general( lube cables/chain etc)..

Re: Service?
I'd probably drop the oil and leave it at that unless I knew the dealer.
Oil goes black very very fast, it's just not a useful metric of where the oil is in it's life. However, it's not exactly expensive to change. Jambo |
Re: Service?
I agree I'd swap the oil and probably filter for the sake of 5,6 quid (unless they're much more on the kwak?)
