K+N filter- anyone notice a difference?

Could be 'Just Serviced' syndrome, but apart from the plugs, fluids and filters, not much has changed (as the bike wouldn't start, I had to charge the battery for a few hours- ended up finishing in the dark with head torches- and I didn't lose one bolt!- nearly though).

The noise is definitely different- I guess that is due to the lack of snorkel. But does it make much difference to power delivery? Bike seems just a tad more eager.

I guess once I've got the carbs balanced I'll feel the benefit more- even without this the power around 4Krpm seems smoother...

And thanks to my Bro for helping me out- probably shaved an hour off the time (especially as he had to go and get some water to mix the coolant- foolishly didn't check if it's premixed or not!). Not that he'd be reading this, of course!

unless u have had the bike rolling roaded, id say the k&n WILL cause problems...oe filter is by far the best bet'..26 years of bikes has proven that, and yes ive tried k&n's on numerous bikes even having em setup up on dyno's...mostly with bad consequences..u might be lucky, but i,ll bet not;)

It's running OK- having had the bike up decent speeds up the A3 this morning- most have said to me that it shouldn't need rejetting. Mainly bought it to save putting a new filter in every other service...

Carbs were cleaned and it was chucked on a Fuchs dyno last year- but no mods to the jetting as such.

It just seems a touch more eager...

I stuck one on mine cus im young and thats what young people do!!

No not really, filter was due for replacement and i thought why not, but on my pointy all i noticed was more noise, the best bit of power gain for me came from removing my snorkel and that was still with a standard filter

How easy is it to remove the snorkel? do you cut it off? break it off? clip it off?

It's a fixed injection map on pointies. Same amount of fuel goes in. Now you've removed some restrictions, it'll get more air, so run lean.

I've read that it runs a bit rich stock, so it could be you've just corrected that.

A K&N standard filter isn't supposed to flow any better than stock - its just supposed to last longer.
