Dymag Closes

I'd been hearing rumors of this for a few weeks now, but it would appear that the wheel builders have ceased trading.

It doesn't seam to have been widely reported but according to an obituary here Dymag were trading for 25 years before closing last Friday after spending a short time in administration. Apparently the Carbon Fiber side is moving to Austria but it unclear if that will be under the Dymag name.

Hopes of keeping the rest of the business together looks to have been dashed by this auction. Though if anyone had the inclination all they would need is the money and space to start production again.

I have no idea what has caused the closure, one assumes the current economic climate as the daily news would say. But who knows, regardless it is unfortunate for all concerned not least the staff.

Awh, that's a crying shame.
was quite nice having something aspirational to aspire to, even if I couldn't afford them now.

Good morning all.

Yet another bit of British manufacturing bites the dust. At this rate we wont have any soon :(.

Cheers.

How could we have gone from the workshop of the world with some great engineers and scientist to err what we have now?

Because everyone wanted everything to be cheaper and so China started making some cheap sh*t and everyone bought that. Thats why the world and everything in it is falling apart. :)

In my opinion it all started with management who sat on their laurels, & with trade unions who had forgotten that the companies welfare was also in their interest. Then we got Maggie Thatcher in. NUFF SAID!

Cheers.

Pretty much but at the same time we were making worse rubbish than the far east. Look at a British leyland motor, or a 60's bike. "They will buy from us because we are British"... we forgot we didn't own most of the world any more!
