Help with bike viewings in london area?

Hi there,

I posted a thread a while back about getting some help from London members when going to view sv650s pointy's. To avoid me creating new threads every time I need to view a bike I thought I would just ask in one thread.

"shells" has a bike for sale which looks nice

I was wondering if anyone one of you kind souls is free this weekend/next to help me look it over. The bike's in Dagenham, near the A13. I'd be happy to pay for a meal for your help :)

What are the "top 5" of things to look out for on SV650's when buying, apart from the usual (tyres/chain/clutch etc...)?

shell's bike is now sold. Will be in touch if I find another. Sorry if I'm cluttering the Soho massive's section. I hope to be a 'true' member soon :)

Dont worry about cluttering it up Mav, just keep posting stuff in this thread so its all in one place and hopefully soon you'll have your bike and can come out and meet the gang.

All I can think of to check from my limited experience with a pointy is for furry bits and that the speedo works properly.

Good luck.

Thanks guys. Monkey, by furry bits do you mean rust? What's the issue with the speedo if it doesn't work properly?

The speedo drive in the front wheel has been known to go. I don't think it's particularly hard to sort but it could get you a bit off the price. There will be lots of threads on here about it.

SV's are known to go a bit furry in places so it's worth checking nuts and bolts. Also I'd check for cheesium bolts which round at the hint of being undone. It's not fun drilling them out when the time comes.

It's worth asking this question in the repair/mod thread to get more answers.
