Schumacher Returns...?

Michael Schumacher has (verbally) agree'd to line up on the starting grid for the 2010 F1 season with Mercedes GP (formerly Brawn GP).

I'm not sure this is completly true, but crash.net often has some truth behind it's stories. I'm not certain this would be a good thing though - it was great when we all though MS would be back for a few races with ferrari, I was so excited and then deflated when he couldn't do it. But this time round, I worry for him. Will he be fast enough? If he isn't, will it ruin his reputation? Its all fine and dandy when he has umpteen crashes on a motorcycle when racing, because thats where he is a rookie. But if he gets back in the F1 car and finds he is having to constantly drive beyond his limit and vists more gravel traps than Sete Gibernau, he'll look like a plonker and it might just ruin the legend of a great sportsman.

Even so, there is a part of me that is really loking forward to him taking on the now well established stars of F1. Its going to be brilliant to watch for that :D

2010 looks set to be one of the best seasons in recent years for ALL racing - BSB gets hodgson back, WSBK will have toseland back, MotoGP gets the young great spies, and now F1 could have its most succesfull personality back.

best thing schumacher ever did was leave f1, cant stand the bloke, great sportsman? i dont think so, imho *gets off soapbox*

Overall, I always enjoyed schumacher in F1. He made me angry (1994 adelaide!!), he made me sit up and think "how, on, earth, did, he, do, that", he made me excited. Sometimes I hated him, sometimes I shouted at the TV in digust, but I could never deny he didn't bring something special to the sport

His drive and determination seem to have been second to none, but dirty tricks and unsportsmanlike behaviour made me hate him.

He's a fool if he comes back - he won't be in the best car, without the resources that made him so successful. He'll do well enough because he's that good, but not championship good. Spoil a career to trail along mid pack for a comeback season

for me it made it borring and samey i stopped watching it in 2000 then watched his last season before hamilton joined, having kids has made it hard for me to follow it these days but have gone off the whole sport all together now, they keep changing the rules, wont be making any effort to watch it nxt yr, but hay thats my opinon, not everyone thinks like me:smt062 lol

For all his questionable activities on the track, he is a fantastic driver. You've only got to see his performance at Monaco after he was relegated to a pit lane start for parking his car on a bend in quali.

He sailed right up the field very quickly on a track notorious for difficulty of overtakes.

Yes- he may not win races to start with. Who knows?

I think he will be very competent to start with and get better very quickly (if indeed he is to return- it's still all speculation). And I've a feeling he won't be placing himself in the Stewards' eyes so often- he's had his run of success in F1. He's going back to do something he really loves.

And he'd be back with Ross Brawn- a dream pairing the first time round. And I think the Mercedes F1 will be a very driveable car- probably more so than Ferrari.

There is that- but I think it'll be interesting seeing how he does the first few races.

No doubt it'd do the world of good for viewing figures and ticket sales too. Could help F1 during this 'difficult time' that the sport is in.

I can't see Mercedes Benz going into next years F1 lightly. They have a reputation to maintain and I see their goal being German Car-German Driver
to sweep the board.R Braun-Schuie-Mercedes will be nobody's fool.
Proof of the pudding will be in the results.
McLaren likewise being British have a lot to prove as well,all with ex-world champions driving for them,should make an interesting mix.
Having said that I would not disregard Ferrari with Alonso and Massa being that last year was abysmal for them ,they to will be fighting to get wins for the Prancing Stallion

He still competes every year in the annual Race of Champions.

Even in the broad range of car he still destroys every single person. He beat Jenson Button in this years Race of Champions by 4 second... the track itself is only about 45 seconds in duration.

He is more than quick enough... its depends on his fitness which I am sure is fine... he is a machine.
