Gear selection trouble

About 5,000 miles ago I noticed that when upshifting without using the clutch, every now and then I'd appear to get stuck between gears i.e. upshift from 4th to 5th, it would go into 5th very briefly then just start revving as if the clutch was in.

Asked them to check at the service, no problems reported.

Problem seems to be happening more and more now (even though I've started using the clutch a lot more), to the point where last night I went up from (I think) 3rd to 4th and just before I was going to change up again, it dropped back down to 3rd (mild panic as the rear locked a little and I got closer to the bars than I would have liked).

Between changes I've noticed that sometimes the gear lever doesn't return back down to normal position after an up change, is this likely to be something to do with it and if so, what adjustment if any can be made?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds similar to an issue i had on a loan bike i was given. Turned out to be some crud round the pivot for the gear lever that was stopping it from returning properly. It would go up into gear and kind stick up there.
I stripped the whole assembly off the bike, took it indoors, stripped it all down and lubed it all up and never had the problem again.

Hmmm....it's due it's next service now anyway, so I'll mention it again and get him to strip/lube/put back the gear lever/pivot etc.

Either that or I bin the stock stuff and put my Valter Moto rearsets on

I know alot of folk say that Clutchless up shifting does not damage the gear box....

Well tell that to my old one...
