Brake seized

Hi all,

I have a grip lock lock on my B1H and I haven't used the bike for about 2 weeks while the snow has been here, I went to move it into the house over crimbo as I went away and the brake was seized I rocked it back and forth and it sort of made a crack noise and released I can hear the pads rubbing a bit but is there something I should do before riding it again?

Cheers

Re: Brake seized

More likely to be pads rusted to disc than seized brakes. Is there any surface rust on the disc? If so, they'll have just rusted together.

Just brake gently when setting off to clear the rust and you'll be reet. Had the exact same thing with the CBR this morning after it's sat in the garage for 3 days.

Not recommended but a rubber mallet and tap em should release them enough to get them moving if your desperate to get out on the bike.

Then get them serviced properly.

this happens if you dont ride it for a period, (scared me aswell lol), especially if it had wet/damp disks when you put it away. Your brakes should be fine, just ride the bike...

I think my car brake pads had frozen to the discs the other morning. Had only been left overnight - didn't think this was long enough for them to rust. Could be the effect of salt i spose
