Fully Comp or 3rd Party F&T?

Re: Fully Comp or 3rd Party F&T????
I have TPFT. My dad always had it aswell for years until he started making regular trips abroad. If you can afford fully comp, do it, but TPFT will cover most things that are likely to happen :)

Fully Comp Always.
Remember if you are not insured for the initial cause of the accident you aren't covered for incurring costs afterwards i.e. Police Recovery, Fire and Ambulance Charges. |
Re: Fully Comp or 3rd Party F&T????
depends
If the bikes on finance and you havent paid it off, then take the fully comp, last thing you want is to be repaying finance on a bike that's been written off. Third party is all very well till you have a single vehicle accident i.e. you fall off and the only person you can blame is yourself if you can afford to fund repairs / replace the bike without relying on insurance then fine. Personally I cant. I had the SV on TPFT as it was only worth about £800 and in most cases it would just have been written off, the GSXR is on Comprehensive and it'll stay that way till its market value is practically nill. In your shoes if I could afford it I'd pay for Comprehensive, at the end of the day its all about how much risk you are prepared to accept. |

Re: Fully Comp or 3rd Party F&T?
I had TPFT until I got my second SV. When they were both put on the same policy, and the excess had gone down a lot, I decided it was cheap enough to go fully comp. Suppose it depends what you can afford.

Re: Fully Comp or 3rd Party F&T?
I would love fully comp but not sure I can afford it! £900 for my mine and £450 for TPFT but that is business insured and first insurance, so got no claims and wont have had license 5 seconds.

Im fully comp so I can replace the bike if I wreck it - if I ever have enough saved to buy a bike outright I wouldn't bother though. Aah, what a lovely thought! BTW does anyone bother with helmet and leather cover (sounds dodgy now I think about it! |
Re: Fully Comp or 3rd Party F&T?
I had helmet and leathers cover last year, before insurance companies decided to pass on their skintness with the credit crunch to me by not reducing my insurance!
I had the intention of using it when I crashed for my helmet, had the forms and everything (as it was fairly straight forward) just never got round to sending them off. Was due for a new lid anyway. Was 50 quid seperate to my insurance for the year. I opted for personal injury this year instead. |
