insurance thingy

you know those people who are sat at junctions, haven't got the patients to wait for a space, so they pull across your lane to stop it and wait for the other lane to stop....... well i nearly hit one....... but with a twist

was going about 50 - 60 and looked away for a split second, looked back and there was on of the above people already there and stationary, it wasnt my car, there was no ABS and it was raining so i locked up and slid down the road just stopping short of this Mondeo........ i was only on TP cover and to top it off I'd just picked it up after they had bought it :smt101

question is, if I'd have hit him who would have been in the wrong? as basically i wasnt really paying attention and they were stationary

also a question to mk1 mondeo drivers that's been bugging me for a while........... why is it that none of you have bumpers that are intacted, either you have chunks out of them or duck tape all over them...... is it some sort of club?

Your original thread is "stickied" at the top of Bike's Talk & Issue...

I'd say 50/50.

You should be driving in a manner that you should be able to anticipate hazzards. Any time I see a car trying to turn right out of a junction on my side of the road I slow down because 90% of the time they've done a check my way and not spotted me or presumed Im further away and they're busy checking the other way.

Equally before any car pulls out on to the main road or does anything, they must make sure its safe to do so.

Thanks for that btw, successfully tweaked it in your absence :)

A good few years ago I had this accident but at slower speed.Me doing about 25mph and other party pulled out of side road on my left intending to turn right.Other party stopped about ten feet out into the road looking left for a gap in oncoming traffic.I hit the brakes and swerved just missing other party but collected a bit of road furniture causing damage to my vehicle.Other party claimed it was all my fault for driving too fast and not paying attention,so I called Police and they did an investigation.Other party got done for due care and got hammered in court.

Theres a roll of tape in with the spare wheel on the mk1 as a standard repair kit.

i have got to get some photos of the mk1 mondeo on my street. Its probably worth more trade in to a duct tape seller than a car trader.
