hello all...newbie here! :)
good day all.
just found this forum when googling for info about the SV650S and thought i'd join and become a regular. :D currently not an sv650 owner, still riding a 250 and waiting until june when i get my big bike licence - where i will be looking for a SV650S to purchase! :smt002 i'm from sydney, australia...have only been riding for about 1.5 years and so i have alot to learn. currently riding a 2001 honda vtr250, which by now is getting, dare i say 'slow' for me and i can't wait to upgrade to 'pointy' as you folk call it. i'm looking to buy 'pointy' in a 2003 model and above - making the switch to fuel injected bikes...it'd also be nice to get my hands on some side fairings somewhere so i don't look too naked. lol i had a few questions for you folk though and maybe you can give me a better answer than google. just wondering how the bike rides around town in busy traffic? are you finding yourselves changing gears and riding the clutch too much? also, i'm quite a shortass for a guy...standing at only about 5"4' / 163cm. :silent: how do you find the seat height and the actual width/narrowness of the seat? i don't wish to lower the bike, and if possible i'd prefer to shave excess foam off the seat. any other useful info you could tell me about the bike will be great also! :D anyway, hope to learn much from you all and hope to be a proud sv650 owner soon! cheers! P.S. thought i'd leave you with some pics of my current bike to make it more interesting...lol. http://members.optusnet.com.au/vlam8/vtr1.jpg http://members.optusnet.com.au/vlam8/vtr2.jpg http://members.optusnet.com.au/vlam8/vtr3.jpg |

Hello and welcome - Liking the bike - I had a CBF 250 when i first started.
Can't give you much advice unfortunately as I don't own an SV anymore(gave it to my dad) I didn't get on with to well due to back injuries. however my OH has one and loves it about town you'll notice the difference. Those in the know will be around asap Roll on june eh? |

Re: hello all...newbie here! :)
Welcome fella. Thats a pretty cool looking 250 you got there. We don't get so many over here as learners have to stick to 125's (used to be 250 a while back).
The SV should be fine round town - plenty of grunt for nipping through traffic and a very light clutch (compared to some stuff). Height shouldn't be too much of an issue, but if it is, you can always fit longer dog bones to drop the rear ride height a bit. Good luck with passing the big bike test! Phil |
