Don't touch it. These snake oil products are generically chlorinated paraffins, which perform brilliantly when demonstrated as a disc scuff test, but once exposed to heat as in an engine they will attack the metal. They were used about 70 yrs ago as extreme pressure additives and sometimes as machining aids, but haven't been used by reputable companies since. They are cheap so attractive for the snake oil merchants.

RTFM.

I guessing JASO-MA and SAE SF/SG would fit the bill quite nicely.

Chlorinated organic compounds; potential for generation of highly reactive species under extreme conditions (possibly carbenes or free radicals). Not to mention increased risk of damaging the environment if spilled...

So long as you replace your oil regularly and keep it topped up within the limits of the sight-glass (or dip stick ) then you'll not have a problem. I've heard modern oils are so good, that if you were to run an engine in on anything more than mineral oil, you won't have a very well run-in engine (piston rings don't seal against the bores, everything just gets polished...apprently, this was the reason why many YZF750's use alot of oil, because they were run in with semi-synth and not basic basic mineral oil)
