Stupid Emails
We have an admin manager at work who is somewhat strange, I find her very difficult to be pleasent to but do my best.
She is know for sending blunt, rude emails but we typically ignore them. any way today we recieved this... names changed for legal reasons Subject: New Photocopier / Scanner Admin are NOT MIND READERS! If for any reason you find you have a problem with the photocopier / scanner – jamming / not printing / mis-feeds etc – PLEASE let Admin staff know. DO NOT TUG AT THE PAPER when it has mis-fed – if you do this then causes more damage. We will help you – but cannot be expected to know when these things happen without being informed. DON’T just leave the machine for the next person to come along and moan that it is not working. It is a BRAND NEW COPIER – Lets LOOK AFTER IT! Regards nobby mc nob Now I was having a bad day and wrote this in response but resisted from hitting the send button... you reckon it was warrented? Dear noby mc nob We are all aware it is a shiny new copier, and we are all generally very careful with it, there is a chance that someone used the machine and wasn’t aware it was broken after they used it? Maybe this happened because it is a new machine and we aren’t aware when it has become faulty, or that the fault was attempted to be fixed and between trying to fix it and sitting down at the desk the offender forgot to mention it, as humans this happens. I certainly wasn’t given any instruction on the machine and as such we have all just got on and tried to use it, I think we have done ok so far given that normally us not in the admin group can’t be trusted to put the toilet seat down. If the next person came along and found the machine out of order and moaned about it, why don’t you take this up with the last person that used, it, after all our new spangly machine is very clever and I believe can tell you who last used it, if not, why not just tell the person who was moaning about it to “get over it” it’s just a copier, and the nice man from the lease company will come and kiss it better soon, after all its just a copier, albeit a shiny new one. Ps, we are not blind, the use of larger letters just makes the email look like it was written by someone with tourettes. Peace out Alex made me feel better anyway! |

Re: Stupid Emails
Nothing rude in that. I've sent much worse.
The response is a bit hippy-**** tho - "we're human and we forget things and it's ok to forget things cos we is all cuddly and soft so don't like nasty people pointing out that we're just too crap to remember stuff." Yes, we're all human and occasionally make mistakes, but that's not an excuse. Make a mistake, take responsibility for it. Admin Manager Ophic :smt077 |

Re: Stupid Emails
In honesty I can`t see anything wrong with her email... we receive stuff like that from our admin all the time. I think your reply was perhaps uneccesary as was the amount of sarcasm, reactions like yours tend to lead to far bigger problems.

Re: Stupid Emails
EDIT: apologies as upon re-reading I realised you didn`t actually send the email.

Re: Stupid Emails
It prob made you feel better writing it, but be careful if you end up doing it too often and one day you WILL hit send. In that situation I dare say a P45 would hit your desk faster than you can type a retraction.
