Selling on ebay

Hi all, I am looking at selling my SV on ebay.

When selling how do I avoid time wasters and what do I do if someone wants a test ride, how do I prevent them nicking the bike?

Thanks

if they ride to you take there keys and ask for cash to make up the value difference or if there in car do the same, i took someones R1 keys when they wanted to try the sv for that v-twin feeling. time wasters are expected you cant really get rid of them im afraid.

Wrong section Stephen.

But you will just have to judge people. People who normally would like to see the bike before bidding are good buyers usually and might even offer you a price there and then.

Just don't let people test drive it without them being insured and leaving you their car keys, wallet etc. and maybe a cash deposit.

Don't accept their vehicle keys as a security. Who's to say that vehicle is theirs?
The best way to let somebody test drive it is to have the cash in your hand. That way, who cares if they bin it/nick it......
Think about it, if they are willing to nick your bike why shouldnt they have nicked the vehicle they turn up in/on.......

Fair Point, stupid recommendation on my part. :-)

Ask for cash and their car keys then you can chase them in their car if they nick the bike, :-P

If you're happy to get 20% less than you think it's prob worth but get it over and done with in a short period of time, do an auction. If you really want a good private price for it, use the classified ad option on ebay where it's up for a month and hope someone is happy with the price you're asking.

Test ride definitely with cash in hand only, and maybe have a preprinted sale contract ready for them to sign before they ride off saying if it's damaged they've bought it, a serious buyer would understand I'm sure.

Totally agree with FG on this one - this scam was done on 'The Real Hustle' recently. They went to test drive a Ferrari, and left a stolen Porsche as their deposit.
