Fuel light and tacho problems.

Ages ago the fuel sensor light stopped working on my bike. I still haven't got round to fixing it. Is it a case of lifting the tank and checking the wire hasn't come loose?

The RPM dial has also packed in. A month or so ago it started going berserk - i was going at a steady speed of 60mph when suddenly the needle started shooting up and down the dial as if it was possessed. It then stopped working completely. How do i go about fixing that?

Cheers

Fuel light - could be a blown buld, but easiest thing to start off is checking the wiring under the tank, so go for it :D

Not sure about the tachometer, although I know it runs off the front cylinder, so perhaps start looking around there? If you are getting two dash problems though, then there might be a problem with the dashboard itself, so you might want to check the main connector for any dirt etc

Is it a pointy or a curvy? On pointies the fuel light is an LED, so unlikely to be blown. On curvies I think it is a normal bulb, so, worth checking.

Its a curvy. I think i've had a quick look at the wiring under the tank before and it looked fine. Might be the bulb like you both mention.
