Scottoiler adjustment.

Ive got a Scottoiler fitted to my k9 sv and after going out this morning on it, ive come home and had a look at it and it seams there our bits of oil going onto my tyre on the left hand side only, is there anyway i can do to stop this or could it be something else?

Re: Scottoiler

You can reduce the drip rate, and make sure the needle touches the sprocket .... but other than that it shows its working !!

I had a similar problem when I first fitted mine. The problem was caused by too much oil flow and the fact the needle (for want of a better word) was able to flap around in the wind. I made a bracket to support the needle tight against the sprocket and bolted this to the bracket for the trackstand bobbins and its been fine since. Some very minor oil marks on the tyre.

Best of luck sorting the problem.

In warm weather you should be looking about a drip every 30-40 seconds. In wet weather about every 20-30 seconds.

Strike the should bit. That's what I have it set to and I do not get a tyre covered in oil but a well lubricated chain.

If it's just a couple of spots on the sidewall it's not much to worry about. If it's flooding over the edge onto the contact side of the tyre you have a problem.

Keep it high for another week or so - until the salt's washed off the roads?

The one at the end of the line by the sprocket?
It's supposed to be flared to give a better grip - can't explain more without breaching u-rating.
