What is it about the SV?
This is the first time I have logged onto this website since November 2006 and I'm well chuffed it's still going strong.
Used to own a few SV's (sold one, went without a bike for a while, then bought one again) but then went down the GSXR-600 route but didn't keep it long - just too fast for our roads and often found myself riding pretty wreckless and treating B-roads as a race track. So I decided to race motocross and have been for a few years but there has been something inside me nagging away for a while and thats the need for an SV650. What is it about this bloody bike that makes me want to go back time and time again ? |
Re: What is it about the SV...
It's a nice, reliable, powerful enough bike with enough character to keep it interesting. I think.

Re: What is it about the SV...
It does every thing on the label.
It is a very forgiving bike....the number of fxxx up I've made and still it kept me up. besides all that it looks great. |
Re: What is it about the SV...
Either:
a) You're missing the twist and go nature of the V-twin and the fact that it was probably your first quick(ish) bike. or b) You're a masochist and remember the SV saddle fondly :D. |
Re: What is it about the SV...
Its interesting to read this as ive had a 125 and the sv650, i am now though a bit bored of it and want a supersport 600 or gixer <---- sorry GSXR 750 but for everyday commute and weekend burn arounds im wondering if ill be a little like yourself, and want it back. Grass is always greener i suppose. I will get a new bike to feed my desire, twill be a sad day when it goes though.

Go for plan B. - keep the SV for commuting and buy a second bike for fun.

Re: What is it about the SV?
Had one years ago and really liked it except it was the S version and it had me putting too much weight on my wrists and I just didn't get on with it. I knew I'd get another one but a naked one this time. Dont get on with the seat this time! :D
