Nearly left a gixxer coloured mark on the road
Been out for a ride to night with some friends, had been out for half hour of constant riding at a fair pace. The back had been a bit skitish all night but then as i exited a round about and got the power on it spun up big time and threw me up onto my feet and left me leaning over the tank. Thank fully ive got a good natural reaction of closing the throttle in these situations ;) and all is fine.
certainly got some stick from the others when we stopped, no one came near me as apprently i smelt a bit off they said. :D any way dont let these odd spots of sun fool you remember its cold still!!! scott |

I did about 60 miles yesterday, I was forever watching out for gravel in the roads from the newly formed pot holes. Nothing as brown-trouser as yours though!

Slamming the throttle shut is what turns a little bit of spinning up into a big bit of highside...
Funny when I read title I expected this to be a thread by davepreston... |
Re: Nearly left a gixxer coloured mark on the road
I can confirm that closing the throttle throws the bike down the road.....:(
I panicked when I was about to lowside and closed the throttle, the next thing that happened was me summersaulting through the air with the bike bouncing along the road.... Much to the amusement of the two cars that stopped to check I was ok. I was OK btw, just a bit stiff for a few days. |

I had something similar on a GSX1400 , there`s a good story about it on here somewhere , I had that Bull buck about 3 times underneath me before it settled down and I landed plums first into the tank , after that I was very Tenacious with the throttle .

Wobbles are scary. Trick is to close the throttle a bit so it comes back into line slowly.
I fail at that. Got highsided last time. |

Re: Nearly left a gixxer coloured mark on the road
Around the same time last year I had a biiiig slide exiting a roundabout off the A272 going up the slip road to join the A23 to brighton. Its the first slide I'd ever had, and it did make me think about the lack of grip. I must have only been at 5000 rpm on a whiff of throttle!
I'm not quite sure what I did, I dont think I shut the throttle completly but I do remember sitting up and waiting a breif moment before gassing it up to join at speed. The worst moment I had was exiting a roundabout when I was out with some soho people last summer, about 3 weeks before the annual rideout...I was in 2nd gear I think, and the revs went up but I didnt really go anywhere, so I backed off and let it regain grip, which it did and sent me into a bit of a wobble. I became quite paranoid for a while that I had oil from my bike on my rear tyre |
