GSX R-750 Servicing Intervals
Evenin all,
I'm looking at buying a K5 GSX-R750 soonish with 5200 miles on the clock. Just wondered if anyone out their in .org land might have an idea as too what servicing the bike should have undergone and if their is likely to be any services looming in the near future. Cheers. |
Re: GSX R-750 Servicing Intervals
Oil changes at 600 miles, 4000 miles, and then every 3500 miles AFAIK. Valve check at 15,000 miles. Check spark plugs on every other oil change, but definatly change every third oil change. Air filter every third oil change I think (about 12,000 miles). Keep an eye on the air filter though...my dad found his (K6) got quite dirty, more so than my SV air filter even though I did many more miles than him.
I think you'll be looking at spark plugs and an oil (and oil filter) change at 7500 miles :) |

Cheers boyo,
You surely are the hero |
Re: GSX R-750 Servicing Intervals
With those big ram air tubes you suck in all the grit, bugs and small children right into the filter. Not like on SV where there's some pre-filtering done by all the dust having to flow past the fairing etc first.
But that's minor, and the earlier GSXRs are nice to work on. Hopefully they carried on that idea! |
Re: GSX R-750 Servicing Intervals
Hmmn, good question :-)

Re: GSX R-750 Servicing Intervals
I was looking at new bikes service intervals because of the miles I do it needs a service every couple of months and GSXR servicing cost the same as SV so go off that.
Does anyone know why Suzuki/Kawasaki/Honda have 3000/3500 service intervals and Yamaha/Triumph 6000 miles? |

AFAIK, Honda and kawasaki and yamaha have 6000 mile intervals. Maybe suzuki are being carefull and assume that people wont always use good oil. Yamaha also state a long time between valve clearance checks - over 20,000 miles for their FZ1 fazer and earlier (pre-cross-plane cranky) R1's i think |
Re: GSX R-750 Servicing Intervals
On the early Ks they even put a hole in the frame so you can get a screwdriver to the throttle body clamp screws, nice thought!
