Accellerated Access Course Question?

If i do the Accellerated Access Course and ditch my 33bhp restriction after a year and a half, gonna cost me about the same as it would to "offically" restrict my new bike will the date that i pass my test revert to now, so instead of my licence saying cat A 15.09.08 =25KW will it just say Cat A 10.03.10.

because if that is the case i am pretty screwed when it comes to insurance as to them it will look like i have just passed my test and am a complete novice with no experience and that adds 2000 to the insurance!!

im hoping that it means i can just wipe the 25KW off my licence.

Any thoughts?

I don't know anyone who has done the AA test.

I think the 33bhp part will go onto the entitlement history bit of your license and you can still say you've had a full license for 1/2 years.

Can you not ask the DVLA? My license has two dates, one for Cat A, one for cat B. I think it is still a full bike license so you should be fine. Good luck if you do, when I was testing my SV I also tried a Fazer with a 33hp restrictor, that GSXR will be mental! If you haven't had a little play...

i tried ringing them yesterday but they are on strike or something.

yeah i have ridden my brothers fazer FZ6 which has 90bhp, that was pretty nippy, but i didnt like the position too much, sounds nice with scorpion cans.

na i havent unleashed the the gixxer yet, all in good time. :)

spoke to DVLA about this today.

Apparently they change the 25kw for a date of when you passed so you have two dates on your licences.

Why bother?

6 months is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Re: Accellerated Access Course Question?

cause i bought a gsxr 750, insurance is cheaper than my sv and its gonna cost me £200 to restrict it or about £200 to do the test? i know its impatient but in my eyes its worth it.

just seems to make sense to me. rather than ride around on a restricted 750 for 6 months. plus i get the bike over the summer.

Re: Accellerated Access Course Question?

It's up to you in the end but personally, I wouldn't bother.

£200 to restrict sounds a bit steep though especially as theres nothing paperwork wise that you need legally to prove its been fitted by an approved installer.

Buy the kit and do it youeself then sell it on afterwards.

You'll still have the bike for the summer.

I hope you have a lot of self control when it comes to the throttle though 18 months of having a licence, (not 18 months experience) Isn't a very long time to hop onto a full power 750 either.

They're not that mental if you don't take liberties. Poke it with a stick and it will kill you though!

I'd go for the accelerated access if you can't find a cheap way to restrict it for sure though.

Re: Accellerated Access Course Question?

yeah so do i. i have been riding the sv since i passed, i have ridden a it unchoked as well. im not worried about the 750 i will just have to take it easy and be gradual. I completed Rospa last year aswell which helped a fair bit with my riding.

i have tried to look for kits elsewhere but cant find them. I have heard they can do the bike in as well, or at least make it run like c*ap.

I have made the decision now so im gonna stick to it but another turning point for me is i pay the insurance no matter how powerful the bike is.

i will also be able to trackdays and test ride bikes,go to track schools and ride other bikes legally.
