Routes around Barcelona-Denia in Spain?

Here's a link to show the area of spain I'm talking about http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...e=UTF8&t=p&z=8

Have you ridden this area and have any recommendations for roads/routes?

I live in Mallorca so I'd get the ferry to Barcelona then travel a route that would end up in Denia to get the ferry back home

I'm thinking a 4 day trip. I've not done a trip like this so any recommendations on a realistic distance/hours per day would be a great help too.

Cheers

Top 3 for me near where you are going are:

The Tossa De Mar - Saint Feliu road. Only done it North to south (hugging the cliffs) , you would have an opportunity to do the opposite and ride next to the sea and have better places to stop for a double cigarette break. (You will need it!) Very tight in places, twisting round cove after cove with BIG drops to the sea.

One other that springs to mind is take a trip out to Montserrat, north west of Sant Cugat. Crazy looking, massive groups of monolithic red rock while all around is rolling hills, with a huge monestary at the top. Get the funicular railway from there to one of the tops for amazing views and more rock weirdness. Great twisty road up and down and through the National Park.

3rd is the C242 which it looks like you already plan to travel on, unfortunately you miss the best bits! From Reus you get a long twisty climb into the mountains onto the plains at La Granadella. Very little other vehicles or people.

Being all Spanish they are all beautifully surfaced, something of a novelty for us Brits.:)

Have a good trip and post some pics when you get back. Make us all jealous.:p

Cheers for that m8.

I'll have a look at those routes. I dropped in that route more to give an idea of the area although looks like some tasty roads along the way :D.

How far were you riding in a day? I'm trying to work out a good route with a decent amount of riding but not killing myself if you know what I mean.

Roll on Summer, it's 5 degrees here today- I MOVED TO THE MEDITERRANEAN FOR F***S SAKE!!! :smt076

No bother, but TBH your are going to be spoilt for choice anyway!

I go away usually for 2weeks, 2-up, and very little booked. 4 days I would just see where you end up at the end of the day. I don't mind putting in the easy but boring hours in on the m/ways to give me more time with the gnarly/choice stuff.

Good thing is you will be just kicking aboout on the smaller mountain ranges so you are never far from a detour to a m/way if you want to be somewhere quick.

I reckon 4 days you can be at a canter riding your plan and by sticking mostly to the good roads too.

C242 pics: (Heard this local screeching about from half mile down the road! LOL)

PS. You NEED to go to Valencia MotoGP in November, you're too close not to. The nuttiest atmosphere by far.

Cheers, pics look great! As it's the first time at something like this (and I'm leaving the missus at home) I thought this'd be a good trip. I guess the thing is like you say I can just jump the Via and hoon it to wherever should the need arise.

Yeah I know about the GP, Every season I sit watching and think, really have to go next year.... TV coverage here is mad and you could actually watch pretty much the whole weekend live on TV - have been known to get me into trouble with the other half

Will see how work/money goes this year....

any of the coast roads around that area are fantastic. dont expect to cover a huge distance though, they are not exactly mile munching roads.
1000kms is nothing in 4 days so just romp on when you feel good and stop when you choose.
i have covered more than 2800kms in 2 days on mixed roads but it was very tiring so 1000kms will be well within your time of 4 days.
enjoy it and dont forget to post some pictures up ;)
