What lid?

Hello,
I think I'll be in the market for a new lid.

My first lid was a Schuberth Concept (flip front), worked ok but it was big and a bit heavy, but I got used to it. Had to change it after an off.

I've replaced it with a Schuberth R1, which I'm not quite happy with.
- the reviews said there is some wind blast across the face and this is what annoys me the most.
- it's big as well, I've tried some other lids on and really liked a small outer shell (a Suomi and Hovis's lid),
- there are small drafts in the R1 around the base ot the lid, something I've never noticed in the Concept despite using the same neck warmer. Maybe because it had a collar on the bottom of the lid:

I've used a Motrax Skirt (kept sliding off), and I've got the front of the R1 duckt taped as Darren suggested, it helped a bit but it's still annoying.
One other thing is, I've tried the old Concept on the Falco once (stupid, I know) and noticed that I don't have to tilt my head back as much as in the R1.

I've tried a C3 Schu on in HG the other day and liked how it felt, but wouldn't want to spend £400 quid without some kind of test :/

Any suggestions?

Cheers

I have a C3 and find it to be comfortable, and quieter than previous Shoei flip front lids.

If you dont specifically after a flip front how about the Shark RSR2, very very good lid, quite enough and very comfy and secure. Also has a quick release visor system, only teks 30seconds to change ya visor :)

Re: What lid?

Dyzio, I have HJC FS15, not heavy & has a drop down sunvisor, which i found very useful last weekend with the low sun.
This was the only one i could find that would fit, I have problems with full face lids, the chin bar on some can touch my chin.
HJC seemed the only ones that left me some room.
Prices seem to be v.good overall, think I only paid 1/2 price @ £100 some were on special at George Whites.
When you comin south with your F? will have to meet up & exchange notes.

Re: What lid?

I rode about 1k on the SV in a cheap Suomy lid and it was ok, unfortunately the guy I borrowed it from doesn't have it any more.
I liked the flip Concept because my neck was ok and it was easy to use with a neck tube/warmer thingy.

Judging by you posts on AF1, the Falco and the HCJ work very well for you OG, now, do I know someone with said helmet... Baz :)

Dunno about heading south mate, got some holiday plans and trying to work things around them. Although the AR i tempting :)

A mate has an Arai Chaser, I'll get it for a test ride. Another one has the C3 so I'll try that as well.
I've tried a Viper GT on as well, sat on an R1 but felt like I needed to tilt my head back again. Didn't have that feeling when sat in the Chaser on a 600 gixer.

I like the small Chaser, but having said that the c3 isn't that big and has the pinlock and sun visor as standard. Plus I like how easy it is to put them on - take them off.

I will be getting an Arai RX7 in the next couple of weeks to replace my soon to be hanging basket Arais that are damaged. I like the fact, that as you say, the outer shell is small as i have an XL head! My shoei looks ginormouse in comparrison. However, i do find my old arais a bit noisy compard to the Shoei. i just wear ear plugs when on the motorway.
