Luggage bags
Hello,
Normally when going somewhere, I take an Oxford tailpack for luggage and it sits on the rear seat. I might be doing some 2up riding and was wondering if someone could recommend some kind of luggage bag to put on the rack: http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/6641/002jw.jpg Or is it better to get some panniers? Cheers dyzio |
Re: Luggage bags
I'd get a roll bag. There's some on Ebay, but Hein Gericke do them with places for straps for strapping it to the rack. Not bad price, thing about £13 for a 40 litre one, but they do 60 and 80 litre ones too.

Re: Luggage bags
Check the load capacity for that rack before deciding to buy summat to go on it, many of those have poor load capacity due to how they bolt to the bike (yours looks quite strong though). I have always been a fan of hard luggage, but I guess it depends on how much use it will get whether you can justify the cost. A top-box and tank-bag would do for two up, but panniers would be better as that would leave your rack free for camping gear and the like.

Re: Luggage bags
Thanks,
I think the rack's load capacity isn't that good to be honest (have to check) but I've seen some heavy loads on SV's Renntec's as well. The problem with hard luggage for the Falco is that it's very difficult to find. Panniers seem a bit OTT for 2 days riding, but I think something like this (or something a bit smaller) would be good. |
Re: Luggage bags
Linky shows a roll bag like Mr. UKI suggested. I had another thought. Why not replace your current rack with a Ventura* pack system? You get a 'normal' rack for use like your current one, plus a big pack and extended frame to support it for when you need it? See http://www.ventura-bike.co.uk/
Pete and Lissa have one on the Duc IIRC. *I've seen the prices, not cheap! |

Re: Luggage bags
Dyz, i've had the oxford tailpak on the rentec on the sv, its fine. Failing that i've oxford sports panniers you can borrow.

Re: Luggage bags
I've realised that you can just put the tailpack on the rack after starting this thread. Just need to get some straps to fix it properly.
One thing that could be a worry is how to make it waterproof, although bin liners could be a solution. Thanks for the offer on the panniers. |
Re: Luggage bags
dont you have a wayerproof cover for the tailpak, if not you can borrow mine

Re: Luggage bags
I've got some transparent cover for it, I'm just a bit worried that it could get damaged when tightening the straps.
