Not turning over and clicking noise.

Hi, I'm new to biking & have just bought a 57 plate SV650s. I've just went to start it & I'm getting a quick clicking sound (like a machine gun but not as loud!!). Does this mean that the battery is dead? Thanks, Tony.

Try holding the clutch in when you start it

If it were just a case of pulling clutch in, surely there would be no noise at al?l.

Sounds like a dead battery to me. Clicky click is the noise when mine was dead.

Sounds like the battery hasnt enough charge.

Sounds like:

Starter solenoid closes <click>
Starter motor draws high current
Battery voltage drops
Starter solenoid releases <click>
<repeat as necessary>

So, it sounds like a flat battery and there are a whole heap of possible reasons.

Its deffinately the battery mate. Bump start it then go for a good 30 mins ride to give it a good charge

...or plonk it on charge for an hour or two then ride it ;-)

Hi. Thanks for all the advice. I am holding the clutch in and its not the kill switch, so I guess as you've all said it is the battery. I've had it on charge for a couple of days so I guess the battery is just goosed!!
