El Saxo down but ok

Well, it had to happen some time - i've popped my crashing cherry and my 'broken bone' cherry in one go!

Tonight I went back to my parents place for dinner and to pick up the SV after moving in to the house in Warrington.

On my way back after dinner etc, about 5 mins from my new home (on Winwick Road just by Halliwell Jones for those that know it) I moved into the right-hand filter lane, only what I didn't realise is there are 2 r.h. filter lanes in quick succession, and i had just moved into the first! I didn't see the piece of kerbing sticking out into my lane until I was right on top of it at 30-40mph, so i hit it & 'caught some air'. Seriously, this kerbing was invisible in the dark, no markings or bollard or anything...

I almost landed it!

Unfortunately as I landed I went down on the l.h. side and slid down the road. :(

I have literally just got back from A&E where they confirmed my worst fears of a broken collarbone. :( Now I'm just waiting for the nice drugs they gave me to kick in so I can get some sleep.

Got to say thanks to my new housemate Chris (Neeja) for going to pick up the bike for me. I haven't seen the damage yet but it was rideable so Chris has managed to get it home and put it away in the garage for me. I'll take a look tomorrow and may be on the scrounge for bits soon! ;)

My shoulder has to stay immobilised for at least 6-8 weeks according to the Doc, so no riding for me for a while, or playing guitar :(

Daamn, sorry to hear it dude. Firstly, good job you're still here to tell the tale. Could've been worse, but a broken collar bone, ouch! The funky meds will do their trick though, so not to worry.

Hope you mend soon mate. Bone's can heal real good, so I'm sure you'll be back out there in no time.

Hey mate, join the club of silly offs. Mine happened in October but no broken bones for me. Just learn from it and get back on the bike as soon as possible!

Glad you are going to be OK. That could have been much worse!

Expect at least that long , perhaps longer before you are back riding again. (broke mine in 08 )

What kind of shape is the bike in????
