GSR600 - what are they like?
 

Anybody riden or owned 1 of these are they any good? finding mixed reviews on them like most bikes unless its a racebike (crb600 gixxer ect)

I had a spin on one: seemed to be a solid enough bike, but rather uninspiring. Can't add much more than that.

It's essentially a replacement for the Bandit, and has much of that bike's feel and capability. Bigger than an SV physically, but the seat isn't particularly high, comfort is better than an SV and significantly better than an SV two up, (like the Bandit is). It's clearly a machine constructed to sell at a budget and as such many of the bits are well known from other machines - and no worse for it.
FWIW I quite liked it. As you say they can be found for good prices and as such are probably worth a look. At the numbers I've seen them going for a new bike is a very realistic prospect for many people - and you can't do better than a new one whatever you buy.

Got a right panning in the press though when it was launched, lots and lots of reviews complaining about snatchy fueling, that coupled with the fact that it was / is a bandit replacement, but you can still buy a bandit, it didnt really seem to fit Suzuki's model range very well.

Never ridden one, but I do quite like the look of it.

Yes you can. Get a better bike second hand.

What you said is like saying you can't get a better Perodua Nippa than a new Perodua Nippa which is true, but I rather have a second hand version of almost anything else

I currently own a GSR replaced a curvy last july. IMO its way comfier (is that a word comfier?) better brakes and suspension. It's plenty quick enough too with its K4 gsxr engine.
Downsides it's not got the best finish requires a little tlc mainly just crappy bolts and the footrest hangers could do with a tougher finish.

Wronger than wrong - whatever it is you buy a new one will always be best.

There are plenty of good S/H bikes - but they don't improve with age or use.

It's not wrong!
The particular model you choose doesn't get better with age (a point I originally conceded) but a 2 year old example of a better choice will still be better than your new POS.
Plus you'll lose far less in depreciation between say years 2 to 4 than 0 to 2. This will far outweigh any additional maintenance costs of an older model.
