carrying stuff
Ok so i can easily get what i need in a backpack but im curious as to how people carry tents? last time i had to do it on the sv i strapped it to the rear seat. but i was always worried it would fly off. With the gm3 looming what do you guys do? (yes the wigwams are fully booked)

Re: carrying stuff
I always been told strap it accross the seat and as many straps as you feel comfortable with.
If i'm strapping anything to the seat i've found putting the hook so that its facing outwards seems to be more secure and takes a lot provocation to pop off. What you trying to strap it to? |
Re: carrying stuff
Bungees, ratchet straps, rope, whatever. it is easy :)

Re: carrying stuff
aye i bungee'd it last time but just felt it was a little too long stuck over the back (although looking at dizzys setup jesus christ!!) im just wondering if people had other options? or smaller tents?

Re: carrying stuff
The best combo if you have a tent is the use of some panniers. They give a good platform for the tent etc to be bungeed onto. Plus, means you don't have a back pack on and are not normally too expensive, can pick up Oxford First Time ones for less than £40.

Re: carrying stuff
aye i have considered paniers. problem is i would have to buy a matching vfr to go with them :)

Re: carrying stuff
Soft panniers? They aren't VFRish at all
