Carol Nash seem rather marvellous

I picked a Saturday of all days to try and get some insurance cover to get the VRap home. Now I was kinda hoping to avoid Saturday staff guff ups, but that didn't quite go to plan

A fortnight ago, I got a quote of 56 quid to get the Raptor insured until 23rd May when my multibike policy needs renewing. On the phone I was told because I was under the 30 days to get it done instantly for the following year, I could....woohoo. So I start the whole shennanigans.
We need to put you through to have your policy renewed the bloke said, ok thats fine. you'll still have to cough up for the Raptor for the short period though (knew I wouldn't get away with that)

£272 FC for both SVs (to keep things from being complicated I opted to insure Dave until sold) and 56 quid for the Raptor. Then things started to get complicated, someone forgot that the Raptor needed insuring too, and I'd already payed the premium in full, and the 56 quid.

Oh dear, so off i goes to another fella on the phone to sort it all out. Daniel it seems turned out was going to help me with the mess. Recalculated with all three bikes comes to wait for it.....

£574.....YOU CAN SOD OFFFFFF:smt093

He'd had me on hold, and both him and his superior couldn't justify £301 either. So he said I know this is recorded but go off and get some quotes so we can start fiddling around a bit.
The whole mess has taken me three hours to finally get to the last phone call. I told him some singular quotes for the Raptor, which incidently added to the premium of the two Svs was still cheaper by about £120 or so, with the same benefits included. I found Bennetts that could do an online quote of £238 for all three, but I will never go to them for insurance if you gave me a million quid.. He laughed his head off, so did I... and off he popped to have a go at jiggling.

Now I like CN, have been with them since my first 125, and have used them with glee for breakdown, they've never been crap, maybe expensive, but always good when you need em.
He rings back, now I've got some realllllly good news, and some slightly bad. We've cancelled the lot, and completely redone everything. You now have three bikes on a policy, we have cancelled the 56 quid admin charge to add the Raptor to this years policy, and you have a new policy premium of

£341.33 WOOOOOOOHOOOOO

Now I expected them to come back with a price of around £450, which is what I would have expected to pay in the first place.
The down side was I was going to have to pay £12.52!
Both SVs now have an excess of £150, compared to 200 before,, and the VRap has a £200 excess, compared to the original £300 :-)
I have to say I am so pleased with paying that for the whole year for threee bikes.

Now I just have to wait for the documents to come back, check my bank account just to be sure, and pick up the Raptor next week.
Oh yeah, and ring CN again when I've sold the black SV, and hopefully get a bit of money back too:p

So threee hours of freee phone calls, a sweaty ear, and a bunch of comparison sites works wonders.....yippeeee thanks Daniel and Sharyn, you made my day after all.

Now if the black one gets "nicked" it be easier than selling it :-P

jolly good :)

I've just insured my 125 for £176 with MCE, third party only with free breakdown cover, cheapest I could get and yet nowhere near as cheap as the £80 quoted a few months ago with YC as a named rider grrrrrrrr

TBF Maria it cost me £276 TPFT with a 500 quid excess for my 125, so I wouldn't worry too much. However personally I would never insure any of my bikes TPO, as theres always that one moment, its nicked. I suppose it depends on how much the bike is worth to you and monetary.

It is never worth claiming for a cheap bike... you end up with £600 - £200 excess = £400 ... then you get £300 increase in premium next year, £200 the next, £100 the next... it is cheaper to buy another bike.

Well I suppose what you pay for your bikes, its ok to do it that way....lol!

Mind you I can't complain at the excess for the Raptor, muchly satisfied :-)
