Lost my drivers licence

Well, as the title says, I just did enough of a wrong doing to have the cops hold my licence...

What happened: I was in my car, comming out of a small town (where the speed limit is 60kmh/~37mph), the speed limit changes to 110kmh/68mph. So I accelarate to the speed limit as usual, but unfortunately, I do it before the actual speed limit changes (there's a straight stretch of road with no houses around and clear view right before the exit) and the coppers were right behind me in an unmarked car.. Another crew pulls me over half a mile down the road and tells me of the offence and informs me that, because I was 50kmh over the speed limit, they'll suspend my licence for 3 months (1 month if I take legislation classes and pass the exam at the end). Obviously, nothing I can do about it..

Consequences: 1. Can't ride the bike for a month
2. I'm gonna take a long ride while I can still ride (the 15 days period in which I hold a licence replacement thingy until the suspension starts to take effect) and try to get a long lasting taste of the bike

So there you, I broke the law and hence suffer the consequences. Was a bit singled out as I was not the only one doing it (two other drivers got pulled over as well, but basically everyone does it on that stretch), but they are right about it, so can't really complain. On the bright side of things, I'll ride a bicycle to and from work and get to do a little bit more of a workout

A month? Not all that bad.

Well, it's the first time it gets suspended. The second time I would have to wait 3 months

Sound like a bunch of jobsworths in this instance. Must be really annoyed!

Well, he's been doing almost twice the speed limit. Unlucky.
I'm surprised they didn't settle for a generous tip ;) but since a second vehicle was involved that would be unlikely.

They probably knew how tempting that slow bit before the limit increase was and waited there.

+1
unlucky that you got caught, but at least your man enough to admit the offence and do the time.

Yeah, they are usually a bit more... flexible.. but right now, with the recession and all even the police are looking to generate more income through fines. I've heard quotes from police officers in my country (under anonimate protection) that they are required by their superior officers to fine 10people/day.. So they are on the hunt for real tickets. Plus, the fact that there were so many people around meant any attempts would be quickly shut down..
