Unlock Code for Blackberry Curve 8310

Due to my blackberry becoming water logged, I have been giving a spare phone to use, but it's Vodafone locked.

Without spending my petrol money, does anyome here know how I can unlock the phone for FREE in order for it to be used with my O2 Sim.

If its past a certain age then the networks will unlock it for free, so try phoning vodafone first. Otherwise you will just have to pay.
