I've moved 12 times since getting married in '79. The worst one; the solicitor hadn't told the estate agent when we were completing. Turned up at the house with the removals people, and I went on to the agents to get the keys - they refused to give them to me, and couldn't speak to the solicitor coz he was in Barbados. I went back to tell the removal crew just as the meter reader turned up to do a final reading with the keys. I moved in then, by myself because the wife had given birth that morning 2 weeks late. My next move will be in a box with no windows |
Re: Never ever move house
Keith's simple rules for moving house.
1) If it fits in a box, pack it in a box 2) If it doesn't get a bigger box 3) There are some items which will need some encouragement to go into a box, so keep the toolbox handy. For those people who are too mean to buy boxes (like me) visit your local off licenses and find out when they get their deliveries. Booze usually comes packed in nice sturdy boxes. |
Re: Never ever move house
11 times since 1986 for me.

Re: Never ever move house
At Least I had the advantage of not owning any furniture. apart from a 2 sets of drawers and 2 not particularly useful shelves.
Still got Boxes books in my bosses garage. Though this morning finally finished their new home. There's a reason I failed woodwork - not a dovetail in sight  Edit: Moving tip 3: If you decide to build bookshelves for the new place - don't buy Plain edged timber from Wickes - unless you go shopping with a tape measure & level. |
