Future EA Sports games will only let you play online 'free' if you bought it new. Buy it preowned and you'll have to buy a 'pass' for about £8 in order to play online.

This is on top of the £36/year fee for Xbox Live, or the NOTHING that PS3 owners currently pay for online play.

Screw you, EA.

the 'pass' for about £8 is stupid but I don't mind paying the 40 quid a year for the xbox360 live because every time I put my ps3 on I just turn it off as the servers lag like crap.
the xbox360 servers are much better. i guess you get what you pay for ;)

Having played my PS3 nearly daily for 2 years I have never had any issues with the servers lagging. The only issue I have had is the clock at end of feb so couldn't use it for a day. As far as I am concerned, small price to pay for £80 kept in my pocket.

As for Fifa, to be honest, if I wanted a game that badly would simply buy it new anyway, I rarely buy games second hand as I only buy want I really really want to play.....so buy when they are released. But I do agree, it is a rather underhand tactic to use.

well maybe not so much lag but they allways get interruptions in the middle of games and disconnections.
and when trying to join parties and stuff like that,
the xbox online experience is just so much better imo and worth the money like i say i own ps3's as well as xbox's but on-line the ps3 just doesn't compare.

You'll need an 'online pass' there too, kiddo.

Ubisoft are pretty close behind if you're a PC gamer... all their games now require a CONSTANT internet connection. If their servers are down or your connection drops, even for a moment, the game pauses and will not resume until connection is reestablished. The PC Gamer review of Splinter Cell Conviction concludes with the reviewer saying he's been unable to play for the last two days, and that when it happened he was mid-punch fighting a guard.
