Boot spares. Can I buy a gear change rubber anywhere?
I'm still on my very first pair of motorcycle boots (7 years old- virtually every UK mile and trackday has been done in them). The rubber gear change part is starting to fall apart due to wear and the fact that I tend to use the joint where the rubber meets the boot to change gear. There is plenty of life left in the boots otherwise.
I've done a couple of superglue repairs which've worked but I'd like to get a new rubber. I've looked online and asked in a couple of shops but they can't help. I've considered getting some thin aluminium, hammering it into shape and using silicone or similar to attach it. Can anyone give me an idea of where I can buy the part I need or does anyone have an idea what else I could use? If anyone has an old pair of boots that I could rip the part from that'd be good especially as a lot of boots come with this on both feet?! Thanks. |

7 year is a long stint for a pair of boots.
Retire them and invest in a new pair. You know it makes sense |

Jesus 7 years! I get through a pair every two years - they end up with holes and all sorts in them. I'd get a new pair fella, you've got some serious value for money out of them!

I've seen some slip over gear lever protectors for boots, although I can't remember exactly where. Still, they're available, so praps this is all you need?

Woolworths used to sell shoe repair patches along withthe correct glue. You might try the local pund shop they may stock them now. Coblers is probably the best option.
