engine swap tips?
hi,
can anybody tell me if theres anything i should do before i put the second hand engine in my 2000 curvy, the engine is a 2000 as well so will fit fine, i'll change the oil and filter when ive fitted it but is there anything else i should do and how easy is it to balance the carbs once fitted, any advice greatly recieved. mark |
Re: engine swap
Have you any history on the secondhand lump? turn it over bay hand and check the timing, do a compression test if possible, actually changing the engine is fairly straight forward and can be managed singlehandedly, although a mate helping is a benefit.
it's wise to clean all the electrical connections whilst your there as they aren't the best quality. balancing carbs is easy if you have the right kit and the SV reacts well to it, on that front if you add 4-5 inches of rubber tube (seal the end with a bolt) to the front vacuum takeoff, it makes access a lot easier .
