Which Netbook?
So whilst others discuss the good and bad points of the I-Pad, I'm in the market for a netbook. So...
Small and light, not bothered which version of Microsoft it has (Not willing to learn a new OS) not too bothered about vast storage, we have an external drive for photos. What's good, and where to buy from? Pete ;) |
Re: Which Netbook?
I have an Acer Aspire One D150, used it since Sept. I origionally bought it just as a cheap portable PC thinking I would still use my desktop but I use it all the time. It comes with XP but I have installed Windows 7 on it and it runs even smoother. There is a version of Linux you can get for it as well but I thought it was a bit rubbish.
Take it with me everywhere. And it was only £200 |
Re: Which Netbook?
I just bought one of these, as I was fed up with carting my laptop about
Windows 7 plus 250gb hard drive, I couldn't find anything with Windows 7 or a 250gb HD at this price £170 + vat Its got all I need, built in WiFi, enough USB ports etc http://www.ebuyer.com/product/193039 Unfortunately its out of stock and probably not going to be available again at this price. I nearly bought the same one online at Maplins for £229. |

Re: Which Netbook?
I've got a samsung nc10 which i've had for over a year and love it...
Think they've updated the range since to improve them slightly but going by the reviews you can't go too far wrong with a samsung netbook. Just make sure you get one with as good a battery as possible |
Re: Which Netbook?
Bit off topic but how long is the battery on the Samsung? I normally get about 1hr 45 to 2 hrs on mine which is a bit less than the advertised 7 hours.

Re: Which Netbook?
Id opt for a small <= 12" laptop, netbooks are overpriced and low on power.

I've had a Packard Bell with Windows 7 on for about 6 mths. Slooooooooow. My HP laptop is about 4 yrs old now and runs a lot quicker. I had a word with an IT guy I know who has his own business. Netbooks; the pluses are size, and size, and size. + a long batt life, about 8 hrs. The negatives are processing power and speed - the very thing you need. As above, get a cheap laptop |
Re: Which Netbook?
Depends on what you want to use it for. A laptop will be quicker for some tasks but all I use my netbook for is browsing the internet, and watching TV on Sky Player or BBC I-Player.
Granted it's not powerful enough for HD video but who wants HD video on a 9 inch screen? |
Re: Which Netbook?
Just bought my netbook for work from PC World/Currys.
Tis Asus something or other but was the only one with 8 hours battery life. £200 but I got it free with £20 a month broadband. |
