Training wanted on bike maintenance
Hi all. I`m pretty good with a spanner but the bike is a new type of kit for me. Just wondering if there are any peeps who would like to spend some time with me showing me the how to`s and how not to`s on maintaning my bike. I know that my suspension isnt set up correctly for my weight but dont want to start altering things that i have no experience in. The haynes manual is good for things but i believe in hands on is always better than reading.
Any offers :) Cheers, Electro. |

Re: Training wanted on bike maintenance
Standard suspension on the SV isn`t worth twiddling much with really , you would get far better results slinging a GSXR1000 shock on the back (of a Pointy anyway) and that will make the bike handle so much better for a small outlay , then if you wanted a bit more then sling some Hagon/Maxton Linear springs in the front with some new oil to match . It really is easier than you think and with a bit of help it can make all the difference to the way you enjoy the bike .
General maintenance is a breeze on the SV and the one thing I would recommend is an ABBA stand if you are going to get into the nitty gritty of twirling a few spanners , I am sure some will come along and say they use a different stand etc but the reason I bought an ABBA is that I can just change the adaptors and it will securely fit any other bike I am likely to buy . |

Re: Training wanted on bike maintenance
All my maintenance is done on the path to my front door mate , no luxury of bricks and mortar here to protect me and the bike , so I have to do all maintenance in all weathers all year round ........... next house I buy is having a heated garage with painted floors

Re: Training wanted on bike maintenance
I'm in Wallasey, just over the river from Liverpool. Happy to help if you fancy a trip over here (about an hour from Manchester).
My kettle is always on. |
