Engine split advice - what special tools?

As it says - also would i be better taking the clutch and rotor off first before dropping the engine?

I'll presume it's an SV (as you don't say), apart from a castled socket (for the mounts) and a rotor puller, and standard tool kit will do (no not the one on the bike) and I'd add a rubber mallet as well.

Cheers Mark.

I removed these parts once the engine was out of the frame.

The alternator rotor tool is best described over here.

The only other thing I would recommend is to make sure the engine externally is cleaned before disassembly starts.
