Major SV service - how much and where from?

As I tend to do usually ... i screwed myself yet again on a hot head purchase.
Got my SV literally yesterday and the seller said I just need to give it a minor service to change the oil and such...
I gave a few dealers and neighbourhood shops a call and it turns out I am in for a MAJOR service! (16k miles, last service mid last year, recent mot)
I can't stop being angry at myself for not checking earlier and negotiating a better price for the bike!

Anyway, have you guys got any advice on this?

One local garage said that I can come down, they'll have a look at the state of the bike and I will be able to do the service bit by bit with the necessary things done first - this seems like the best solution right now I guess.

Anyone got a better idea? Maybe some places that I will get a reliable and cheap quote on what needs to be done?

I'm in London.

Mine had it done about 1000 miles ago at an independant dealer was about £275 all in including brake pads that need changing and having shims adjusted. Bad news mate hope you get it sorted ok #-o. Dare I say it....you should of waited :)

Can't help with places/prices in London

I paid 250 for a major service at 15k for mine but to be fair as long as I get a years running out the bike it's money well spent. If on the other hand your going to flog it within 6 months like a lot of bikers do then it's expensive.

Spannerman is a member on here, apparently a very good mechanic. PM him!
