Bike selling advice
Just had a phone call from a prospective buyer about my bike but something didn't feel right. He asked all the right questions (dents, scratches etc) but that was about it. He asked which one is was again as he'd looked at a few on the internet and if I live in Somerset (I live in Wiltshire as in the ad). He did take the reg no to look for insurance tonight which felt a little better.
He's bringing cash and I've asked if he'll come to the bank with me and pay it in. Anything else I should/shouldn't do??? Just all seemed a bit quick as he's coming in the morning. http://www.astraownersnetwork.co.uk/...c/progress.gif |
Re: Bike selling advice
Why did you need him to go to the bank with you?
The only other thing is to make sure he gives you said cash before you let him have any sort of ride on it. Oh and make sure you only give him the new keepers supplement and not the whole V5. And familiarise yourself with what you need to fill out in the V5 to transfer the ownership. Good luck....what you selling BTW? |

Re: Bike selling advice
Defo go to the bank with the buyer, if the bank accept the money then you know its legit.

Re: Bike selling advice
When I've gone to buy cars in the past I ask the seller if he'd like to come to the bank so he can see me withdraw the exact amount of cash and then he can deposit it directly into his own account. Either that or they can watch me do a bank transfer into their account and know it's not reversible.

Re: Bike selling advice
when i got my bike i paid cash and the guy just took it, with no real come back if its fake as he had no idea who i was on where i lived,
when i sold my old car he had cash like 10k+'s worth and i got him to meet me at a bank local to me and went with him to put it all in - these days its not worth taking the risk of getting stung imo |
Re: Bike selling advice
Cheers guys, he came with cash and we went to the bank to pay it in. He was quite quiet and only passed his test yesterday so I was a bit nervous when he rode out of the drive!
