MOT yesterday

So I'm busy at work just now, 6 days 12 hrs for next 6 weeks. I could only get the bike for an MOT on Saturdays.

My first choice of garage was booked up on Saturdays for the next 3 weeks which is too late for me. So I had to bite the bullet and book into a well known main dealer in Falkirk.

So I took the bike for its MOT at 2pm and after waiting for it I got told at 3.15pm that it had failed for

"Exhaust fitted is clearly in excess of that emitted by a similar motor bicycle fitted with a standard silencer in average condition [7.1.2]"

Scorpion Street Extreme with baffle fitted.

:smt013 So I had to shoot home, refit the standard exhaust and take it back for its 're-test' before they closed. So at 4.30pm I got a pass.

I would query that with vosa if i were you, they may side with the garage but at the end of the day you have a road legal exhaust fitted to your bike

That's a point forgot scorpy's were road legal.
That's even worse!

guru-good! did they try to justify it at all?

Re: MOT yesterday

I asked how much over the limit it was, but they couldn't tell me. I don't think they even test with a Db meter. Just down to the testers finely tuner ears. :toss:

Took the bike back and when I went back outside after the 're-test' it was still parked at the side of the road in the exact position I left it.

An to top it all off one of the clamps it mangled, think they're cheap soft metal fockers. :smt091 So I need a new exhaust clamp to put the Scorpion back on.

Re: MOT yesterday

If it was noisey i would expect it to say "exhaust excessively noisey" (i forget how its correctly pernounced on a failure notice) but along those lines

Ordered a couple of Mikalor clamps off ebay for much cheapness. :smt003

see my earlier threads, words like bargepole and touch spring to mind.
Guru should have given me a shout, could have dropped the bike at mine and i would have taken it somewhere decent during the week for you.
