tank rubbers, what are they for?

as per title really?

i've lost one and unfortunatly ive lost a blanking plug over a screw ont he same side of the bike (im hoping this doesnt upset the balance of the bike and send me into "another" hedge) :)

but just wondered what they do.

is this like on the mounting points where the tank is screwed into the frame? If so I'd have thought it just cradles the tank and prevents vibration from making fizzy petrol (can be quite volatile that stuff - a bit like when you shake up a bottle of coke and take the lid off too quickly)

Yeah vibration isolation... fizzy petrol is not a problem, cracked tank mounts are ;)

Na the ones on the edge not under the bolts.

Yeah those too... think about it, if the middle of the tank is taking some of the load that is going to reduce the stress on the ends.

Fizzy Petrol......ha ha ha!!

I have also had chipped paint on tank and frame when side mounts have been missing on my old CBR track bike.
