Just down the road from AR10 campsite
Look what we missed.
We were back at the AR10 campsite on Sunday just gone for the Land Rover events up in the woods. Still thinks it's amazing that these cars can go up things we find it hard to walk/crawl up.. ANYWAY, if you left the campsite to go into Hay-On-Wye, took a right at the t junction when you got in to Hay-On-Wye and then a left when all the shops end it takes you to beautiful area to walk in. http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...eFromBasky.jpg We are deffo up for going back, without bikes to spend a day walking up there and taking pics. From where the pictures are you can pretty much do a 360 turn and nearly all of it is below you, absolutly stunning. Here is a few pics and then a link to the album at the bottom if you want. http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...y/DSCF2302.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...y/DSCF2305.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...y/DSCF2308.jpg There are actually only two sheep in this picture, the left two sheep are in fact one.... Was doing a panoramic shot with the camera where you take three pics and it lines them up, but the sheep walked across, I thought we might just end up with a REALLY long sheep initially but unfortunatley not, that would have been cool http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...y/DSCF2315.jpg Loads of wild ponies up there http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...y/DSCF2325.jpg This one's the stud, he's got his work cut out for him, especially considering his back only come up to halfway up my thigh http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...y/DSCF2329.jpg Here he is next to Grunty http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...y/DSCF2337.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...y/DSCF2350.jpg Absolutley stunning views http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...y/DSCF2362.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...y/DSCF2367.jpg There are walks that go right up the sides of the big lumpy doofah in the middle of the pic, they would be HARD work, might have to take the dogs so I can get Saffie to pull me up http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...y/DSCF2297.jpg There was a ot of bird of prey action too. We could have done with Fizz, Quiff and/or MattSV and their cameras here. One of the pics is the bird just diving in for the kill but you have to zoom in a bit. http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...y/DSCF2377.jpg On the first pass this fella was REALLY close to the floor http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...y/DSCF2354.jpg The road itself is not really a biking road, that is it wouldn't be enjoyable on the bike, to get there would be ok, but if you continue it is an 11 miles length of single lane road, very twisty road with farm traffic and passing places. If you are talking about the woods at the AR campsite then nope again, it's just that the land rover club have been going there for years setting out courses and things so they are more than trusted up there, otherwise they don't let people up there, insurance and health and saftey things.. Quote:

Re: Just down the road from AR10 campsite
It's quite frustrating looking at these photos as they really don't do it justice. It's amazing up there. That little Stallion was the smallest of those ponies there. They were all Shetlands, so not wild, but not exactly well handled either. Very very cute though.
