North Wales ride

Met my mate Pete at Lake Vyrnwy yesterday morning and off we went!

Lake looked fabulous

The view of Afon Efyrnwy over the other side of the dam and also the sluice house.

Took the little road over the top from the lake, through Llanymawddwy and onto Dinas Mawddwy.
Views from the road on the way up....

Next stop was Barmouth for a cup of coffee and a bit of a laze about looking at the boats in the harbour for an hour or so.

Then it was up the coast through Harlech, Maentwrog, Penrhyndeudraeth and Beddgelert.

Near Beddgelert.

Then on towards Betws y Coed, stopping to take in the views of the Glyders and Gallt y Wenallt

From here it was Betws y Coes, Penmachno, Bala and home for me. Didn't get the time to take any more pictures as I needed to get back to meet my girls off the school bus but it was a cracking day's riding all together.

I think the Welsh are selfish for having all these great roads for themselves. They should share them out a bit with us flat land dwellers :smt045

Nice pics, great weather. Lucky sods :p

Lovely photos. You've certainly made the most of the weather we have at the moment.

I was hoping to head over to Wales some time before the weather turns for good, but I doubt I'll be able to.

The weather was just fantastic. That picture was taken around 9.15am - a good time to be out and about as it still has that early morning freshness about the day and there's almost no traffic either.

There were a couple of occasions when we were riding that day when I could believe myself to be somewhere else, the Pyrenees, the Massif Centrale, the Carpathians or somewhere of that ilk. I've lived in this area for more than 25 years now and I never grow tired of the landscape and geography of the country. It compares easily with anywhere else I've ridden, which is a very large portion of Europe over the last 30 years. Wales really does have some of the most astonishingly beautiful scenery.
