Interesting Tyre test
Not on 650's but interesting all the same. Especially when you can pick up a BT003 rear for just over a ton, new!
Put the kettle on, make a cuppa and have a read |
Re: Interesting Tyre test
Interesting. With the lap times so close, it does make me wonder if the rider was one of the limiting factors rather than the tyres. I do recall seeing a test for tyres once, and a fairly knobbly tyre was only 2-4 secs slower per lap; lifetime in racing but hardly noticeable in the real world.
It's all about subjective feel, isn't it? |
Re: Interesting Tyre test
I used the BT-003's last year on the R6 and found them to be stable and predictable - overall I liked them.
Most top lads swear by the D211's, must admit though, I've been using part worn Interacts on the Ducati and find them to be absolutely spot on, just a pity they dont come in 160 rears........ |
Re: Interesting Tyre test
A front running race laptime set by a friend of mine Ozzie Dave Anthony who was riding our EVO superbike in BSB this season at Willow Springs was a 1.20. Chris Ulrich who runs AMA also runs 1.19's round there. So the tester was 7 seconds off a lap what these tyres could actually run.

Re: Interesting Tyre test
But admittedly he only had 5 laps per set and wasn't allowed to change the base settings to suit the tyres.
I'm sure, with time adjusting the rider and bike to the tyres and also getting used to the set up, he could have gone quicker. C |
