What power genny is needed for tyre warmers?

I am planning to buy some tyre warmers over autumn/winter but dont have a clue what output generator Is needed to make them work properly. Any advice?

The tyre warmers should have the wattage printed on the info label ( you know the one, it has serial numbers and the like on too ). You'll need a generator that has more capacity than that. A quick scadge on google says 600 to 1200 watts is likely for motorcycle warmers.

A lot of the ones I have seen on ebay are listed as 3.1, 3.5 or 4.0 KVA. I dont even know what KVA is.lol. Would these be powerful enough or could I go smaller?

For a purely resistive load like a tyre warmer, kVA=kW, i.e. 3.1kVA= 3100 watts which would be more than adequate.

kettle is 2kw ish .

Bugger it go all out expense and get a tidy one. Lots of generators come with breakers on and if you're really unsure just check the rating is higher than the tyre warmer current.

Nice little honda generator is always good.

... and bloody expensive too! 5 times any other brand. :)

Macro have some really good deals on 3KW gennies at the mo.

and I run a tiny .65kW gennie for my warmers and its flat out with them both on but she does the job :)

2kva Genny is plenty big enough for tyre warmers.
I have a cheap & cheerful 2.2kva that I use for mine, seems to be ok for the odd track & test day. Would probably run a camping kettle as well :)
