New Minitwin for next year
Hi,
Im just about to get a 2001 sv650 curvy for next years minitwin season after racing a CB500 for the last 3 years. I am after some info on tyre choice and supension choice. Ive seen the new Maxxis supersport tyres, are they any good or are they a fals economy? what other tyres are people using in the series and whats the cheapest they can get them for? Also im 13.8 stone so looking at sorting the suspension out as a priority, whats the best set to get and what sort of price should i looking at paying for it? Rob |

Re: New Minitwin for next year
People either use the Pirelli Supercorsas or the Michellins. Personally tyres and suspension are key points that will ensure you enjoy your racing and stay rubber side down. The Pirelli's are IMHO the best option but arent cheap. The SV though doesnt wear tyres that hard so a set when you are starting out will do possibly two weekends depending on how many laps you do at your club. If using Pirellis use a SC1 front and an SC2 rear.
Suspension wise. Best mods, again all from my honest opinion and from what we have put into our customers bikes over the past six years are Linear fork springs, ranging from a .8 to .9 depending on your weight and height. Racetec emmulators, then set air gap, spacers to suit. Rear end wise, Nitron or Ohlins shock. GSXR shocks can work but arent going to work that well for racing and if you spending money on entries you want to be out there as competitive as possible. Its worth forsaking two weekends entry fees to invest in a decent shock. Good funs bikes and enjoy! |
